AnyLinuxWork Leaders set ‘powerful’ examples

Even as the world recently celebrated Earth Hour turning off lights for the cause of Saving Electricity, AnyLinuxWork felt so proud to have gone a step ahead of that. We have efficiently been able to instill a culture of Using Electricity Wisely through setting examples. Instead of passing the buck on others and expecting the rest of the world to change, we have chosen to become the change.

Here’s how.

The moment an IO member enters the cabin of CEO Vivek Singhal, the first thing he notices is a well-lit room without the sound of the mercury. A beam of light that oozes in through two wide windows close to which is his desk and computer welcomes a visitor. Vivek practically switches on the lights only after 5.45 pm when the sun rays have gone down.

A similar scene is visible at Nidhi’s (CTO) cabin too. She has quite wisely placed both her white boards on two places where natural light falls on them directly. Nidhi uses the first white board that hangs at the right of her window for her daily reminders. In addition, while she has a meeting when she needs to draw charts, she uses the bigger board on her left. Nevertheless, this serves the purpose without practically switching off many lights. To top it all, Nidhi regularly waters a tiny Christmas Tree kept near her window that adds to the coolness of her room.

Of course, not every IO member gets a cubicle near the window, yet the
example set by these two leaders is enough to inspire thoughtfulness in using electricity smartly. Much of the part of IO headquarters enjoys the coming of direct sunlight and many employees have been inspired to use this natural boon towards using electricity wisely.

Last month, many leaders worldwide joined hands with the cause of Earth Hour. At IO, our leaders became epitomes of our corporate social responsibility.

Corporate Social Responsibility: Use Electricity Wisely

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Lets be ‘power smart’!

Every company, each CEO, every minister and each individual strives to be powerful. However, nobody is really concerned about the real and tangible ‘power’ that is bestowed to mankind by technological advances and some natural resources. How many of us have ever thought of electricity to be one of the biggest boons of modern lifestyle. A power failure of 10 minutes leaves us perplexed, helpless and jobless.

Talk about how many industries literally depend on electricity for their
moment-to-moment production. IT industry is one such territory that would be arid without electric power. However, there is not much awareness in the IT industry about using this blessing smartly and with responsibility. And that’s what drove ALW to take this issue up as its Corporate Social Responsibility.

ALW team has pledged to use electricity as wisely as possible in order to contribute in prevention of power wastage. We are so much committed to the cause that we have an internal audit system to keep a track of individual consumption of electricity by each team member. This checks any power wastage and makes all of us accountable for the same. Moreover, in future we wish to implement many more mechanisms like a power-saving device etc to serve the cause.

We also intend to set an example and offer a model of using electricity wisely for all the other IT companies who feel so strongly for the same. Through this section, we urge all such companies to join hands with us and offer ideas, feed backs, suggestions, tips or even feelings about how electricity can be used wisely.

Please do feel free to mail us about what you think.

AnyLinuxWork encashes prospects post meltdown

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

The world changes every minute. And it seems nowhere in history was it more apparent than now. Yesterday we see a superpower grinding to a halt and today we see an underdog rising rapidly. American recession is followed by global meltdown and its recovery. US universities are coming to India to recover from losses with predictions getting momentum that India would be the most educated by 2030.

The IT world for that matter has had its fair share of contradictions since beginning. The latest addition to the tradition is by a 22-year old Indian cyber crime expert who claims he has solutions to all kinds of cyber problems.

The picture is good for big and small IT companies is general and ALW in particular. As many companies excitedly expand capacities, ALW, that successfully survived in the Dark Ages, is striving to get its processes right. It is ready to take on the challenges and use every opportunity available. We have re-defined our infrastructure , policies and shaped up more talents in the course of time. A few facts would make it clear. We already have a spare capacity in our infrastructure of 40 seats that can be utilized any time. The Training batch is in place and would be ready within two months time. We have automatized our training, infrastructure etc and scaled up operations.

As for technology, ALW has got its fingers into Majento, Alfresco so that our learning curve would be less now. We have developed products that are now ready to be marketed. The much-awaited fitness portal is ready while its marketing is on cards now. In addition, our software development projects now have a lot of value added services like SEO and SMM. No surprises thus that our team is high on morale particularly in view of the fact that the recession time never could take a toll on the members. Genius is one per cent inspiration and 99 per cent perspiration. Our team truly lives up to it. They are a bunch of self-motivated individuals who take  every project work as a pleasant challenge that would open more scope of learning and growing.

March 20 2010

The India Soft 2010 Jaipur Meet brought more hopes, aspirations and most importantly some very tangible results. AnyLinuxWork Team has had an experience that would soon prove to be an important breakthrough towards scaling higher. Participants from Europe and Central America looked excited about the better times post recession. They showed particular interest in sharing a business platform with Indian software companies.  In fact, they were very keen on grabbing their share of business here.

ALW Team wasn’t behind in grabbing this opportunity. Our team was focusing on – Open source software development especially in PHP and ROR; Joint venture or collaboration with foreign product development and software companies; Strategic partners/investors looking to work with mid-sized tier II city-based Indian IT Companies. And their efforts did pay off as many European and American delegates expressed their desire to have a business relationship with us.  Ever since there have been meetings, follow-ups and online demos. And the next round would be the agreement signing and client visits. It was an event where AnyLinuxWork could get business and more than that could establish a brand for open source technologies. Other Indian software exhibitor companies also shared their process and strategies with the team, and recognized the focus of ALW in open source technologies.

Global meltdown brings AnyLinuxWork’s gain

Friday, March 12th, 2010

For a majority of people, recession is synonymous to losses, cuts and restriction. For AnyLinuxWork Pvt. Ltd. though, global melt down proved to be a heaven in disguise. Initially, we faced issues like clients reducing budgets, delay in project cycles and so on. But, the trend did a turnaround with a shift from passively cost cutting to pro-actively managing profitable projects.

AnyLinuxWork greatly benefited by this trend, as it specializes in working on open source platforms.  The companies, who were earlier working on Windows based projects, began to opt for open source specializing companies like AnyLinuxWork to work for them to cut past software related licensing costs.

Moreover, capitalizing on excellent man power availability in the recessionary market, AnyLinuxWork recruited crème de la crème people to work with and profitably invested in expanding its infrastructure to  house them. AnyLinuxWork made conscious efforts to streamline its work processes so as to bring efficiency in the existing model.

We are also adept at working on software packages in order to manage time and cost verticals. In order to continue to bring in client delight, we tirelessly work upon constant improvements in our processes.
