The development of media literacy tool box project was divided into four stages. The Analysis of the project, the designing phase (the desgning phase includes the website designing, database designing, DFD's, functional flow diagram's). After the designing phase is over the task is handed over to the developers. The coding phase, and the testing phase go hand in hand. It took approximately a week to understand, analyze and design the project which provided basis for the developer to start the actual coding work. Testing was done parallel to the coding work. The project was divided into units and modules and then the application was developed and tested using modular approach. Feature list: This system is built around an online shopping cart which is developed using Oscommerece package. paypal integration The portal is integrated with paypal, facilitating the users to make payments through credit card and paypal directly Payment was also made possible through check/money order and purchase order. The customers can review the product and details and can also make comments on the products. The administrator can upload images and photos of the products the administrator can also upload videos of the products. The system is integrated with the PHPbb forum to provide users with the forum facility. The customers are able to download the kits (which are zip files) once the payment is made which contains image, video and text. File download feature: The customers can download the pdf version of the file. About the application: This is a shopping cart site developed by customizing Oscommerce package from where the user can buy different literacy tools. These tools refers to the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media messages of all kinds. The user can post forums on the site. The user needs to browse a category or make use of the search box to find a media literacy kit that interests him/her. A summary of the kit and its learning objectives is provided. The user can see a sample page from the discussion guide and even preview the media examples! The site uses the integrated paypal system for payment method. Other modes of payment are through Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
